Student externship program

The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is home to one of the oldest and most competitive podiatry residency programs in the US. The program is renowned for its large patient volume and research on diabetic foot complications.

The program provides teaching to more than 50 students per year. Externs receive extensive opportunities in clinic, hospital inpatient, and scrub in many surgical cases. Externs also participate in weekly grand rounds lectures, journal clubs, conferences, and must give a clinical presentation/lecture at the end of the rotation.
