His teaching activities now target the full spectrum of learners, from first year medical students to faculty.<\/p>\n<p>He serves as Co-Director for the Resident as Teacher (RAT) elective, and also as a session facilitator for learners on the teaching resident track. In his role with the RAT elective, he collaborated with colleagues to develop a mobile application \u201cResTeach\u201d that provides high-yield teaching tips for residents. The application offers just-in-time guidance to prepare for bedside teaching, feedback, and didactic sessions. This work was presented at a Shine Academy conference. Dr. Badawy leads a Quality Improvement cohort for internal medicine residents working on a QI project. He mentors residents rotating on an ultrasound elective. Dr. Badawy teaches medical students in both the Synthesis Case and Clinical Skills courses, and also serves as a faculty mentor for students through Veritas.<\/p>\n<p>He has mentored faculty doing QI projects for the Clinical Safety and Effectiveness course. He started a \u201cHospitalist Grand Rounds\u201d within our faculty development series and coordinated targeted education from specialists on disease entities pertinent to our colleagues. He became a Co-Director for our Hospital Medicine Journal Club, and provides guidance to faculty needing pointers on critical appraisal of the literature. He recently led a group of junior faculty to present an outstanding Grand Rounds on \u201cUpdates in Hospital Medicine\u201d to the Department of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p>Due to his demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentorship of learners at all levels, he has just been appointed as Director of Faculty Development for our Division of Hospital Medicine. I could not imagine a better candidate to receive an award as a \u201cStar of Education\u201d.
