On behalf of the entire chief resident team, welcome to the University of Texas Health San Antonio Anesthesiology Residency Program! We are thrilled you’re considering joining our UT Health San Antonio family for the upcoming 2025-2026 match season.<\/p>\n

As you navigate the exciting and often daunting process of residency applications, we want to extend a warm invitation to learn more about what makes our program truly special. Here at UT Health San Antonio, you’ll find a dynamic and supportive environment dedicated to fostering not just exceptional anesthesiologists, but also compassionate and well-rounded physicians.<\/p>\n

Our program offers a robust clinical experience across a diverse range of specialties, exposing you to complex cases and cutting-edge techniques. You’ll gain hands-on expertise in a high-volume academic medical center, a Level I trauma center, and various specialized surgical environments. Beyond the operating room, our curriculum emphasizes a strong foundation in evidence-based medicine, critical care, and pain management, preparing you for any path you choose within anesthesiology. We are also one of the leading hospitals in the nation in number of liver transplants, which our residents enjoy partaking in.<\/p>\n

Our graduates have gone on to a variety of fellowships including Acute Pain, Cardiothoracic, Pediatrics, and Critical Care Medicine at a variety of competitive programs, and we have a strong pool of alumni that successfully pursued careers in both academic and private practice anesthesiology. If you choose to train here, rest assured that you will quickly gain all the tools needed to be a competent perioperative consultant.<\/p>\n

But residency is about more than just clinical training. We pride ourselves on cultivating a culture of camaraderie, mentorship, and resident well-being. Support & Resident Wellness<\/h2>\n

We recognize the importance and need for a strong Wellness Program for our residents. Our Wellness Committee is committed to developing curriculum that addresses health and wellness topics our residents may face that focuses on a healthy work-life balance. Each resident has a faculty advisor with the expectation to meet a minimum of two times a year.<\/p>\n

In addition, institutional support from our House Staff Council and Graduate Medical Education Wellness Program to provide counseling and support services to our residents.<\/p>\n
