[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]The Department of Anesthesiology provides an ACGME-accredited one-year Anesthesia Critical Care Medicine Fellowship program that meets all certification requirements of the American Board of Anesthesiology. The Department offers two fellowship positions each academic year. The fellowship provides fellows with broad-based exposure to an adult critically ill population to develop outstanding clinicians and leaders in Critical Care Medicine. The program is a founding member of the\u00a0Trauma Institute of San Antonio (TRISAT) Educational Consortium<\/a>\u00a0of three collaborating adult critical care fellowship programs in Anesthesia and Surgical Critical Care.<\/p>\n

Fellows rotate in several ICU\u2019s in four major San Antonio medical centers. They gain experience in the care of surgical, trauma, burn, cardiothoracic, neurological, transplant, ECMO and medical intensive care unit patients. In addition to diverse patients, fellows gain exposure to different models and settings of critical care delivery, including academic, military, and private practice. We offer a weekly structured live and web-based didactic lecture series, a defined reading compendium, monthly journal clubs, and formal instruction in professional skills development and literature appraisal. Fellows with a specific interest in medical education, research, or quality improvement may request elective time to complete academic projects.<\/p>\n

Only applicants who have completed (or will be completing) an ACGME-accredited residency program in Anesthesiology are considered. Applications are accepted and interviews offered on a rolling basis through the San Francisco Match<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″]\n
