Travel Award Program

The Office of Academic Opportunity and Educational Excellence is dedicated to the professional development of Long School of Medicine (LSOM) students committed to addressing health disparities and expanding health care access to underserved populations. To that end, we proudly announce our new Travel Award Program that provides funds to support travel to LSOM students attending local or national professional conferences and meetings.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Be an active Long School of Medicine Student
  • Be in good academic standing (must provide documentation of good academic standing from either the Registrar’s Office or Student Affairs Dean)
  • Be able to demonstrate need (Determined by FASFA)
  • Be able to show you are ineligible to receive a travel award from the Office for Undergraduate Medical Education
  • Be invited to present at a conference or meeting (abstract and letter of acceptance required).

All travel funding has been exhausted for the current fiscal year (August 2023 – September 2024). As a result, we are unable to accept any applications at this time. Please check back with us periodically for updates. If you have any questions, please contact Vanessa Macias at maciasv2@uthscsa.edu.
