Overview<\/h2>\n

The mission of the Division of Cardiology at UT Health San Antonio is to make lives better through excellence in education, research, health care and community engagement. We provide collaborative and innovative approaches to the diagnosis of diseases and develop long-term strategies for patients who have or are at risk of cardiovascular disease. We advance the care of patients through clinical and translational basic science research.<\/p>\n

Our Faculty are leading experts in the specialty areas of Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Cardiac Imaging, Peripheral\/Vascular Medicine, Congenital Heart Disease and Women\u2019s Heart Disease. They are recognized both at a national and international level for their contributions and leadership in Cardiovascular Medicine. We practice cutting-edge patient care, research, and teaching within programs designed to address all diseases and conditions affecting the cardiovascular system.<\/p>\n

We offer education and patient care at the University Hospital, Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital, Medical Arts & Research Center (MARC) where we strive to help our patients enhance and maintain an optimal state of health.<\/p>\n

Patient care<\/h3>\n

The Janey and Dolph Briscoe Division of Cardiology offers a complete range of diagnostic, therapeutic and management services for adult patients with heart disease. State of the art tertiary referral facilities and equipment are used to define whether cardiac problems are present, and to treat them when necessary.<\/p>\n

Non-invasive services, diagnostic and interventional catheterization procedures,
\nelectrophysiological testing, coronary intensive care units and highly trained physicians underlie our commitment to excellence in cardiovascular medicine.<\/p>\n

General Cardiologists focus on evaluation of a patient\u2019s symptoms, medical history and lifestyle
\nchoices to determine the nature and extent of treatment required. Basic non-invasive diagnostic tests may be performed to identify heart problems such as ECHO\u2019s, stress tests, ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index) and EKG\u2019s (electrocardiograms).<\/p>\n
