FAQ: Applying<\/h1>\n

Q:\u202f When do you hold your interviews?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 Interviews are typically held in August-October for Cardiovascular Disease and December-January for Interventional Cardiology. Invitations are issued on a rolling basis. We limit the number of applicants on any given day to assure you a more personal view of our training program. This information is reviewed by our fellowship application committee and invitations are extended as early as possible via email.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f Do you have USMLE score minimums?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 Our fellows have averaged scores of 236-245, but we do not have an absolute cutoff. Applicants who have previous failures on the USMLE are generally less likely to be accepted to our programs.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f Do you require U.S. Clinical Experience?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 While U.S. clinical experience is not an absolute requirement, it is highly encouraged.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f Do you take IMGs?<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 Yes, based upon their qualifications.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f What Visas do you sponsor?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 We sponsor ECFMG J-1 Visas only.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f Do you participate in couples match?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 Yes.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202fDo you offer observerships, externships or away rotations?\u00a0<\/strong>

Q:\u202f How do I apply to the Fellowship Programs?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA:\u202f We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) offered by the American Association of Medical Colleges. We DO NOT accept applications outside of ERAS. For more information regarding the electronic application process please access ERAS online.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f What documentation do you require with the ERAS application?<\/strong>
\nA:\u00a0 We require the following documentation with your ERAS application:
\n1. A complete and official medical school\u00a0transcript;
\n2. Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)\u00a0Letter;
\n3. At least three letters of\u00a0recommendation;
\n4. United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE)\u00a0transcripts;
\n5. Personal statement.<\/p>\n

Q:\u202f What is your preferred method of communication?\u00a0<\/strong>
\nA: \u202fAll official correspondence should be through the ERAS system. General questions can be submitted to foleyj1@uthscsa.edu.<\/p>\n
