Anderson, MD, FACC, FAHA assumed his role in December of 2019 as Chief of Janey &amp; Dolph Briscoe, Division of Cardiology and Professor of Medicine (tenure) in the Department of Medicine at the UT Heath of San Antonio, Texas. Formerly, he was the Medical Director of the Center for Heart Failure in the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Medicine and Chief of the Section of Heart Failure and Transplant in the Division of Cardiology and Professor of Medicine at Northwestern Medicine. \u00a0His research interests include the non-invasive assessment of heart failure and cardiac transplant patients, valvular heart disease in heart failure patients and the development of novel therapeutic approaches for advanced heart failure patients.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anderson, a Georgia native, graduated from the Emory University School of Medicine.\u00a0 He completed internal medicine training, including a chief residency, at New York University\/Bellevue Medical Center, followed by general cardiology fellowship at the University of Chicago and one year of advanced heart failure\/transplant training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.\u00a0 He is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anderson is a member of the Heart Failure Society of America, the International Society of Heart &amp; Lung Transplantation, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. He has received numerous awards for teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. In addition to his administrative and academic roles, Dr. Anderson maintains an active clinical practice in cardiomyopathies, advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation.<\/p>\n<p>Allen and his wife Priscilla have one daughter, Sawyer who is a high school junior at the Laboratory School of the University of Chicago.\u00a0 His interests include cooking and travel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Allen S.
