This increased perspiration can occur throughout the body or be localized to specific areas, such as the hands or face.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of hyperhidrosis is unknown, but it can cause significant discomfort and embarrassment for patients. Several medical treatments are available, but they are variably effective. Injection of Botox can help in certain cases.<\/p>\n<p>Certain types of hyperhidrosis respond well the surgical treatment. Thoracic sympathectomy is a procedure where the nerves responsible for the excessive sweating are cut. These nerves are located in the chest near the spine, and this procedure is done through very small incisions using a camera for visualization.
