We\u00a0seek\u00a0an\u00a0investigator\u00a0with\u00a0a\u00a0strong\u00a0track\u00a0record of impactful\u00a0research\u00a0discoveries\u00a0to join a team of multidisciplinary investigators and\u00a0clinicians\u00a0committed\u00a0to\u00a0improving\u00a0outcomes\u00a0for cancer patients, particularly patients with\u00a0hepatocellular\u00a0carcinoma (HCC), which disproportionately\u00a0affects\u00a0our\u00a0region and is\u00a0a\u00a0major\u00a0multi-disciplinary\u00a0focus\u00a0for\u00a0our\u00a0institution. The liver cancer incidence in South Texas is 64% higher than that in the rest of the United States.\u00a0\u00a0Candidates must have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree with a minimum of three years of productive postdoctoral training and outstanding cancer research\u00a0experience in the areas of metabolism, inflammation, and\/or immunology. Candidates with these areas of expertise and a research program focusing on HCC are particularly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Both the department and the NCI Designated Mays Cancer Center have dynamic research programs that offer opportunities for multidisciplinary collaborative investigation. The UT San Antonio is a Tier One research institution and home to multiple NIH-funded center awards including Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science, Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, and Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer\u2019s &amp; Neurodegenerative Diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the Northwest region of San Antonio, the UT San Antonio sits as a gateway to the picturesque Texas Hill Country. San Antonio is a vibrant and multicultural city with a relatively low cost- of-living, an outstanding cultural and educational environment, and year-round recreational activities.
