Division of Infectious Diseases
Long School of Medicine
Following completion of her fellowship training, Dr. Javeri joined the division as faculty working primarily at the OPAT (outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy) clinic at the UHS Robert B Green campus. The OPAT clinic primarily provides outpatient follow up care for patients evaluated by the inpatient Infectious Disease service and discharged with intravenous antibiotics. The clinic also provides general infectious diseases consultation for varied other conditions to include tuberculosis, STD, HIV PrEP (pre exposure prophylaxis) amongst others. Dr. Javeri also became involved in the clinic operations, serving as medical co director for the clinic. The clinic now not only serves approximately 500 patients per year, including the underserved, minorities and underrepresented, but serves as a site supporting medical student, resident and fellow training in this unique milieu.
As Fellowship Director, Dr. Javeri strives to promote the fellowship’s clinical, research and education goals at the same time meeting the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements. She expanded training venues to include away rotations and increasing involvement in existing areas of OPAT, General Infectious Diseases, Hepatitis C, HIV, travel clinic, quality improvement research, and antimicrobial stewardship/Infection Control has diversified the training experience. In an effort to promote a holistic development and training, focusing on fellow wellbeing, she has grown the Infectious Diseases wellness curriculum, incorporating multiple areas of fellows led sessions, off site retreats and fellow-faculty wellness series.
Dr. Javeri has been selected to serve as a Veritas faculty mentor beginning with the 2022-23 academic year and is excited to embark on this new journey and look forward to providing teaching and longitudinal student mentorship.
