\nThe UT San Antonio Long School of Medicine, in collaboration with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) and U.S. Army<\/strong>, offers active-duty Emergency Medicine training positions for military applicants. Physicians interested in completing their Emergency Medicine training at UT San Antonio should rank UT San Antonio<\/strong> through the Military Match.<\/p>\n

Applicants should apply through both the Joint Service GME Selection Board and Residency CAS. Virtual interviews are conducted, and applicants will be contacted by the residency program to coordinate interviews with residency leadership and Chief Residents.<\/p>\n

Active-duty residents are fully integrated with their civilian colleagues and complete the same three-year, ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine Residency Program<\/strong> at University Hospital System (UHS).<\/p>\n

A High-Acuity Clinical Training Environment<\/strong>
\nUniversity Hospital\u2019s Emergency Department provides an exceptional educational environment and serves as one of only two Level I Trauma Centers in San Antonio<\/strong>. The hospital also includes the city\u2019s only Pediatric Burn Center<\/strong>, as well as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) Center, and Hyperbaric Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The high acuity and diversity of trauma and medical patients provide residents with extensive experience managing critically ill and injured patients, preparing them to provide emergency care in demanding environments, including the care of wounded warfighters in deployed settings.<\/p>\n

The Emergency Department includes 80 adult beds and 22 pediatric beds<\/strong>, providing exposure to a broad range of patient populations and clinical presentations. Residents also train alongside physicians and learners from across the institution\u2019s Graduate Medical Education community, which encompasses more than 790 residents and fellows across 61 accredited specialty and subspecialty programs<\/strong>. Residents from numerous specialties rotate through the Emergency Department and serve as consultants, creating a collaborative, multidisciplinary learning environment.<\/p>\n

Specialized Faculty & Fellowship Expertise<\/strong>
\nEmergency Medicine residents work alongside an exceptional group of fellowship-trained faculty and specialists with expertise in areas including Ultrasound, EMS, Medical Toxicology, Global Health, Wilderness Medicine, Disaster Medicine, and Medical Education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This combination of high-acuity clinical training, multidisciplinary collaboration, and specialized faculty expertise provides active-duty residents with a comprehensive Emergency Medicine education and prepares them to deliver high-quality care in a wide range of clinical and operational environments.<\/p>\n
