[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_single_image image=”5911″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text css=””]In 2021, the UT San Antonio Long School of Medicine, in collaboration with the US Air Force (USAF) will offer two active duty training positions. Applicants who are applying into the military match that would like to train here should rank their choice as UT San Antonio.<\/p>\n

Physicians applying for this program should apply through the Joint Service GME Selection Board<\/a>, as well as ERAS. Virtual interviews will be conducted and applicants will be contacted to arrange these interviews with residency leadership as well as our Chief Residents.<\/p>\n

Active Duty residents will be integrated with their civilian counterparts to complete the 3 year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited Emergency Medicine (EM) Training Program at University Hospital System (UHS).<\/p>\n

The University Hospital ED provides a rich educational environment as it functions as one of only two level I Trauma Centers in the city of San Antonio, the only Pediatric Burn Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Center, and a Hyperbaric Center.<\/p>\n

The high acuity of trauma and medical patients guarantees that you will be well prepared to care for wounded war-fighters downrange. The adult ED has 80 beds and the pediatric ED has 22 beds for patient care. Graduate Medical Education program encompassing over 790 residents \/ fellows in 61 accredited specialty and sub-specialty training programs. Residents from multiple services obtain training in the ED either through formal rotations and \/ or functioning as consultants.<\/p>\n

EM residents work with this incredible array of specialists in training as well as interact and learn from skilled and highly motivated sub specialist faculty including Ultrasound, EMS, Toxicology, Global Health, Wilderness Medicine, Disaster, and Education fellowship trained ER faculty.<\/p>\n
