The University of Texas System established this award program to honor extraordinary classroom performance and innovative teaching methods. Each recipient receives a certificate, a medallion and $25,000 in appreciation of their impact on students and their institutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Craig Sisson<\/strong> moved to San Antonio in 2011 and was one of the founding faculty members in the Department of Emergency Medicine.\u00a0 He was promoted to Clinical Professor in 2018, and currently is the Vice Chair of Education and Academic Affairs for the Department of Emergency Medicine.\u00a0 Dr. Sisson\u2019s area of academic expertise is in the field of point-of-care ultrasound education and its diagnostic and procedural application in the evaluation and treatment of patients.\u00a0 The educational courses he developed maximize learner-educator face time, allowing for interactions that will identify and address key issues unique to each learner.\u00a0 He has taught a wide variety of health professionals locally, nationally and \u00a0internationally in the use of point-of-care ultrasound technology.<\/p>\n<p>Please join me in offering our sincere congratulations to Dr. Sisson on this well-deserved recognition for his dedication to the core values of teaching excellence to enhance resident and student success!<\/p>\n<p>Highest regards,<\/p>\n<p>Robert Hromas, MD<br \/>\nDean, LSOM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>from the office of Robert Hromas, Dean of the Long School of Medicine: &nbsp; It is always a pleasure when the spectacular achievements of our faculty achieve are recognized by others, and so I am pleased to announce that Craig Sisson, MD has been selected for the prestigious Regents\u2019 Outstanding Teaching Awards (ROTA).
