America’s Next Great Metropolis
San Antonio, while being the 7th largest city in the United States, boasts a small-town feel. Last year, more than 20,000 new residents moved into San Antonio, an influx that is the 2nd greatest than any other city in the nation. This growth is expected to continue, as San Antonio is projected to welcome 1.1 million new residents by 2040 that demographically represent what the US will look like in the future. This population boom has led to the revitalization of old neighborhoods and downtown landmarks as well as an economic surge. San Antonio growing industries include tech, bioscience, energy, and education.
San Antonio continues to maintain a comparatively affordable cost of living coupled with big city amenities. San Antonio’s cost of living, when compared to other cities is, on average, 13 percentage points lower – this only adds to San Antonio’s appeal as a frontier for high business growth and an alluring, affordable lifestyle that young professionals enjoy. San Antonio remains one of the few large cities where home ownership is affordable. The city’s size and age means there are neighborhoods for every lifestyle, from leafy suburbs and new communities to vintage downtown districts.
A Culture Like No Other
Its unique mixture of native Mexican, German and Spanish influence is noticeable in the city’s distinctive feel. Visitors can take in the city’s lively culture in the three-block outdoor plaza that is Market Square, the largest Mexican market in the U.S., lined with restaurants, shops and produce stands, and sometimes Mariachi bands and dancers also entertain. San Antonio is also home to the 5 time NBA champs, the San Antonio Spurs, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, as well as the annual Fiesta Festival. Artistic passion flows throughout the city, where locals can take in modern art at the NcNay Art Museum in Alamo Heights and families can check out the DoSeum, our innovative children’s museum; but the it’s the city’s East & Westside’s many murals that really wow.
San Antonio has a new, up-and-coming restaurant scene; in fact, the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Creative Cities Network recognized San Antonio as a Creative City of Gastronomy. San Antonio is one of only two cities in the USA with this status. We also boast a local entertainment & cultural scene with music, coffee shops, breweries, and outdoor activities.
