Event Details:

Overview:
Physician Well-being is complex and multi-faceted. There are individual, professional and systemic factors that affect a physician's stress, sense of well-being, productivity and professional satisfaction. The cascading effect of burnout is costly not only to the physician and the patients but also to the organization. Addressing physician well-being in a meaningful way will improve the quality of health-care delivery, patient satisfaction and decrease cost. It is important that strategies to address physician well-being involve not only individual clinician approaches but also system-wide plan of action, cultural change and leadership support.

Objectives:

  • Define burnout and well-being

  • Identify the factors that cause burnout

  • Describe and differentiate the 3 eras of physician well-being at the physician and organizational levels

  • Describe the different approaches to address physician well-being

  • Illustrate the different strategies to address physician well-being at the systems and personal level
