Human trafficking a highly profitable global industry which affects millions of people worldwide. In many instances it is a complex, convoluted, hidden problem but has profound physical and psychological impacts on its victims and presents a public health crisis. This presentation will review the definitions of trafficking, brief overview of global and local scope of the issue. The focus will be on conditions that put individuals and specially young people at risk of becoming trafficking victims; followed by the role of healthcare providers in identifying victims. It will give a broad overview on managing the response to trafficking in health care settings including trauma-informed, survivor centered approaches and connecting with local resources.
