In this presentation, Dr. Nguyen will review findings from a randomized double blinded clinical trial which found no improvement in function or pain one week after ED visits when patients were treated with ibuprofen plus placebo vs ibuprofen plus one of three muscle relaxers (baclofen, metaxalone, tizanidine). Dr. Nguyen will review first line treatment for acute low back pain as NSAIDs and contextualize in a primary care setting.<\/p>\n<h3>Objectives:<\/h3>\n<p>1. Discuss effectiveness of ibuprofen plus placebo vs ibuprofen plus one of three muscles relaxers (baclofen, metaxalone, tizanidine) for acute low back pain.<br \/>\n2. Discuss first line treatment for acute low back pain.<br \/>\n3.
