Overview:<\/h3>\n

Gender diversity is a complex topic with ever shifting and changing considerations for patient care and provider knowledge.\u00a0 During this presentation, Elisabeth Owen, MA, will set a foundational base upon which to understand gender diversity. \u00a0Common language and terminology will be presented along with practical steps for incorporating into practice. Additionally, she will discuss the connection between gender diversity and mental and physical health, including systemic and societal barriers to care for gender diverse patients. Finally, she will delve into practical ways to increase holistic gender affirming care within our treatment teams and clinical settings as it relates to Primary Care.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/h3>\n

1. The learner will be able to define general concepts related and gender diversity, and the use of language.
\n2. The learner will gain understanding of gender diverse pt experiences in mental health and medical system.
\n3. The learner will be able to summarize research regarding gender diversity and mental health.
\n4. The learner will be able to generate solutions\/strategies to increase affirmation and engagement of gender diverse patients.<\/p>\n
