Overview:<\/h3>\n

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a worldwide public health problem. The incidence of End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) cases has been increasing since the 1980s, leading to a significant burden on the U.S. health system. In 2018, there were over 500,000 patients receiving maintenance dialysis, who represent approximately 1% of the U.S. Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) population but account for approximately 7.2% of Medicare FFS spending. Primary care professionals play a significant role in prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment. In this lecture, Dr. Nassar will expound on a clinical approach for patients with CKD, and explain how to implement evidence-based interventions to slow the progression.<\/p>\n

  1. \u00a0Understand the overall approach to patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0Emphasizing the importance of UA and urine-protein creatinine ratio in the workup.<\/li>\n
