There are several factors that prevent patients from exercising including physical restriction, lack of information and resources, lack of time and motivation as well as physicians\u2019 discomfort and lack of knowledge in counseling patients on increasing physical activity through exercise. Primary care physicians address preventive care and chronic medical problems and are uniquely poised in encouraging physical activity in their patients.
