Residents are given protected time in a longitudinal fashion to participate. Family Medicine faculty members are \u00a0the team leaders for the projects, which provide an excellent forum to mentor residents. Several residents have used their work on the COPC projects as an opportunity to develop a presentation for state, national, and \u00a0international meetings. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Conferences<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Department of Family Practice holds many conferences. \u00a0On Wednesday afternoons, all residents gather for didactic training which includes lectures, workshops, self-directed learning, and other scholarly sessions. \u00a0The series is designed to present the &#8220;Core Curriculum&#8221; for the Residency Program over the three years and to prepare the residents for practice and for the board exam. In addition, many other conferences are available on the Health Science Center campus. Other conferences include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Family Medicine Grand Rounds<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ambulatory Care<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Behavioral Science Seminars<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Journal Club<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Evidence-based medicine and critical appraisal<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resident scholarly &#8220;Works in Progress&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Morbidity and Mortality Conferences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Practice Management Seminars<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pharmacology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Psychosocial Case Conferences<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Geriatrics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maternity<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Physician Wellness<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We offer Physician Wellness sessions regularly throughout the year. These sessions are driven by the needs and requests of the residents.
