Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship

The Advanced Endoscopy fellowship is a one-year training program for candidates who have completed an accredited three-year fellowship program in Gastroenterology and wish to receive training focused exclusively on advanced endoscopic procedures.  The program provides an intensive training experience in ERCP and EUS under the guidance of a highly skilled, experienced, and committed faculty.  Extensive exposure will be provided in all areas of therapeutic Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy, including endoscopic sphincterotomy, stone extraction and lithotripsy, stent placement, balloon dilation of strictures, SpyglassTM intraductal endoscopy, manometry, EUS-guided FNA, and transluminal drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts, as well as training in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and radio frequency esophageal ablation.  The curriculum features ample opportunity for clinical research.  Two trainees are accepted each year.

A Message from the Fellowship Program Director

The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Program at UT Health San Antonio offers an intensive training experience in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and other advanced procedures coupled with excellent consultative training and ample opportunity for clinical research – all designed to produce the consummate expert in advanced endoscopy and pancreatobiliary medicine.

The program is based at University Hospital and Christus Santa Rosa-Medical Center. Excellent training in the care of patients with complex medical problems is a program priority. Fellows are also actively encouraged to take part in research under the guidance of Advanced Endoscopy Faculty.
