Personal Statement:

Dr. Amy Bortzfield is committed to providing high-quality gastroenterology care to patients while educating our gastroenterology fellows in training. She is a full-time academic clinician- educator, with her efforts currently focused on providing care to veterans at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Administration Hospital. Her initial clinical efforts as a faculty member were conducted at University Health System and in the UT Health Physicians practice. In 2015, recognizing both a pressing need within the Gastroenterology Division’s educational programs and a unique service opportunity, my efforts transitioned to Audie Murphy VA Hospital. Dr. Bortzfield’s has a particular interest in the areas of quality in endoscopy, colorectal cancer screening, and small bowel enteroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and other small bowel pathology.
