Dr. Healy enjoys working with fellows, residents and medical students to further their education in palliative medicine. Dr. Healy is the South Texas Veterans Health Care System’s Chief of Palliative Care. She has expanded palliative medicine services at the VA, including at the VA heart failure clinic, Hemodialysis clinic, ALS clinic, and the oncology clinic. She has also started a palliative care telephone clinic and has expanded virtual palliative care in south Texas which is designed to help veterans who have trouble getting to the VA and those who need frequent follow-up receive the care that they need. These clinics have increased access to palliative care for Veterans with serious illnesses and improved the education of palliative medicine fellows, resident, and medical students.
