We focus on optimizing health, promoting healthy active longevity, and, when chronic illnesses progress, providing compassionate care and guidance through the end of life.<\/p>\n<p>Our new geriatrics clinic at the Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC) has been specifically designed to accommodate older patients. Our staff has ample experience working with older adults and assisting them to obtain needed services. In working to provide you with the best care possible we are guided by these values:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To respect the autonomy of each patient and their family in medical decision-making<\/li>\n<li>To understand the impact of disease on your life and your family<\/li>\n<li>To manage illness within the context of your life<\/li>\n<li>To provide accessible medical care that is tailored and responds to your individual abilities environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As specialists trained in geriatric medicine, our clinicians are particularly skilled in the evaluation and management of common geriatric conditions such as arthritis, dementia or changes in memory, depression, diabetes, falls and immobility, incontinence, and osteoporosis.<\/p>\n<h3>Research<\/h3>\n<p>Researchers at the\u00a0<span class=\"green\">UT Barshop Institute for Aging and Longevity Studies, the South Texas Veterans Health Care System Audie L.
