As a classically trained dancer and collegiate ballroom dancer, I am passionate about dancing. I love spending time with my family and friends. I also love to cook, read novels, listen to podcasts, and find quiet moments to unwind\u2014though most days, our little one keeps us happily busy and makes sure there's never a dull moment. I find balance through time outdoors, exploring visual and literary arts, and with food. <\/td>Should I decide to stay in academics my intended focus is on improving outcomes for older adults with hematologic malignancies and other myeloid disorders. After 10 years in Brazil, I learned to love coffee and churrasco. I enjoy cooking with my wife for our two children. An early bird, I spend mornings reading biographies and science history. I also love basset hounds and neat Scotch.<\/td>Over the years, I have developed a strong interest in malignant hematology, especially lymphomas. The relationship between cancer and the immune system is fascinating, and modern therapies increasingly use the body\u2019s own immune defenses to combat these diseases.
