Applicants accepted into this track will have the opportunity to obtain certification in inpatient ultrasound through a combination of formal coursework, development of an ultrasound portfolio, and successful completion of an ultrasound examination.\u00a0 Residents that complete the track will receive the SHM\/CHEST POCUS Certificate of Completion.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"carat-double\" href=\"https:\/\/lsom.uthscsa.edu\/medicine\/education\/internal-medicine-residency\/simulation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Learn more about our Simulation Center<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3007&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Advanced HIV Medicine Skills (AHMS) Track<\/h2>\n<p>Residents may choose the Advanced HIV Medicine Skills (AHMS) Track after the main match.<\/p>\n<p>This track is designed to provide residents with skills in the management of HIV+ patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Applicants selected for this track will be expected to complete the online National HIV Curriculum funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration.<\/p>\n<p>Residents will have the opportunity to rotate on an HIV inpatient service and in outpatient ID\/HIV clinics (space permitting).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3008&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Ambulatory Track<\/h2>\n<p>Residents may opt into the Ambulatory Track at the end of their PGY2 year.<\/p>\n<p>In their final year of training, our residents have the option of choosing the Ambulatory\u00a0Track. This is an opportunity for all those interested in primary care or outpatient-based specialties.<\/p>\n<p>Residents spend time in continuity clinics, Texas Diabetes Institute and Primary Care Mental Health Clinics. Residents also learn focused Musculoskeletal Medicine and Dermatology for the primary care physician.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3009&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Community Health Track<\/h2>\n<p>The Co-Directors for the Community Health Track intend to draw on our residents\u2019 passion for service and change. The structure of the track will balance residents\u2019 other personal, educational, clinical, and research interests. Applicants who enroll in this 24-month program will begin at the start of their PGY2 year. The track includes (1) a core didactic curriculum, (2) experiential learning and service opportunities, including required activities during plus-one weeks and elective rotations, and (3) a capstone project.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"carat-double\" href=\"https:\/\/lsom.uthscsa.edu\/medicine\/education\/internal-medicine-residency\/tracks\/health-access\/\">Learn more about the Community Health Track<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3011&#8243; img_size=&#8221;medium&#8221;][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Clinician Educator Track<\/h2>\n<p>This is a multidisciplinary track designed for residents and fellows who have an interest in improving their own skills as educators.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in this track attend monthly seminars sponsored by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uthscsa.edu\/academics\/medicine\/education\/gme\">Office of Graduate Medical Education<\/a>. These are offered at different days\/times in the month to maximize participation.
