Cardiovascular and Cardiopulmonary Services<\/b><\/p>\n

Our Divisions of Cardiology and Pulmonary\/Critical Care Medicine, in partnership with the Divisions of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, excel in all areas of cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary care. \u00a0Highlights include state-of-the-art care of patients with structural heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, supplemented in recent years by nationally-recognized Centers of Excellence in both interstitial lung disease and adult cystic fibrosis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Collaboration between the Division of Gastroenterology, the Department of Surgery, the Liver Transplant Center and the Texas Liver Institute provides a full spectrum of care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders, with notable expertise in advanced and emerging endoscopic procedures, pancreatobiliary disease and chronic liver disease.<\/span><\/p>\n

Repeatedly recognized nationally over many years by U.S. News and World Reports for delivering exemplary care for chronic kidney disease within University Health System, the faculty of our Nephrology Division are renowned for their expertise in diabetic kidney disease and direct a number of top-ranked Kidney Dialysis centers in the San Antonio area.<\/span><\/p>\n

This program integrates outstanding clinical care with research in aging conducted by the nationally recognized Barshop Institute<\/a> <\/span>and the Geriatrics Research and Education Center of the South Texas Veterans\u2019 Health Care System.<\/span><\/p>\n

Working in collaboration with surgical colleagues in the highly regarded University Transplant Center, the Department\u2019s faculty play an integral role in the pre-operative and post-operative interdisciplinary management of patients who have undergone liver, kidney and lung transplantation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Faculty of the Division of General Medicine deliver state-of-the-art primary care at the UHS Robert B. Green Campus. \u00a0They also partner with faculty colleagues in the Division of Geriatrics and the Department of Family and Community Medicine to provide evidence-based longitudinal, comprehensive care in the UT Health Physicians Primary Care Center, a growing network of primary care clinics now operating out of six sites around San Antonio. <\/span><\/p>\n
