Mobilizing on a heroic scale

In the midst of a year battling the COVID-19 pandemic, February 2021 brought frigid weather and widespread power and water outages, and left many throughout the San Antonio area without access to reliable shelter, food and drinking water for several days. While the extreme weather shut down much of the city, the UT Health San Antonio community did what it does best — offered hope and support to those in need. From staff members opening their homes to coworkers without power to physicians sleeping on hospital couches for days to make their shifts, there are countless examples of tireless dedication to our mission to make lives better. Here are just a few of our stories of heroic response.

In this video, we celebrate the exceptional self-sacrifice of the many in our ranks who sustained our life-saving, life-affirming missions through a historic winter storm event.
