Who Are We?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Our division includes two neuroimmunology physicians and an advanced practice provider. Dr Romero founded the clinic in 2011 with only 200 patients at the end of the year. Since then, we have seen tremendous success and growth treating over 2,000 patients with various neuroimmunologic disorders at UT Health at San Antonio.<\/p>\n

UT Health at San Antonio neuroimmunology clinic includes comprehensive care for our patients. This means working with a physician who collaborates with our specialists to coordinate your care such as Physical Therapists, Speech therapists, Urology\/Urogynecology, Neuro-ophthalmologists, and Psychiatrists.<\/p>\n

We treat patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum disorder (NMOSD), Neurosarcoidosis, Neuropsychiatric Lupus, Sjogren\u2019s syndrome, Myelin Oligodendrocyte Antibody Disease (MOGAD), Acute Disseminated Encephalomylelitis (ADEM), Autoimmune encephalitis and Tranverse Myelitis.<\/p>\n


\nExpertise: <\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are the first and only comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center in San Antonio and South Texas which was first awarded to us in 2016. This is a prestigious designation granted to us by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). We are only 1 of 8 centers in Texas with this title.<\/p>\n


\nInnovation: <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Our center offers therapies including baclofen pumps and botulinum toxin injections.<\/p>\n


\nEducation: <\/strong><\/h2>\n

We offer a one-year Neuroimmunology Fellowship, which was approved by the UT Health at San Antonio GME (Graduate Medical Education) department in 2022 with the following objectives:
\n– To develop a comprehensive knowledge base encompassing basic science and clinical aspects of MS and other neuroimmunological conditions of the central nervous system
\n– To become familiar with principles of comprehensive management of persons with MS and other neuroimmunological conditions
\n– To be a resource for information about current research directions and clinical trials in MS including education of patients, colleagues and other trainees at multiple levels in various disciplines
\n– To become familiar with and participate in clinical research, including clinical trials<\/p>\n

We also provide active clinical education to medical students during their neurology clerkship, neurology residents in training, and occasionally visitor fellows from other specialties.<\/p>\n


\nCommunity: <\/strong><\/h2>\n

We collaborate and work closely with national and regional Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Foundations with a focus on raising awareness, providing multi-disciplinary care, and providing resources for the patient.<\/p>\n
