[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text css=””]Thank you for your interest in the Neurology Residency Program at UT Health San Antonio (formerly The University of Texas Health Science Center Long School of Medicine). We offer an accredited program with educational excellence and exposure to all aspects of neurologic care and research.<\/p>\n

Our program is changing and growing in many exciting ways. \u00a0Beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year, we became a four year, categorical program, which has not only simplified the application process, but it has aided us in our efforts to support and guide our residents throughout their training. \u00a0This change has also allowed for a smoother transition for residents moving from the PGY-1 to the PGY-2 year. Due to the increasing opportunities in our department, we have expanded our training program to nine residents per year.<\/p>\n

The residency program participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP), which can be accessed at http:\/\/www.nrmp.org<\/a>. We accept applications from the ERAS application service only. Information is on their website Electronic Residency Application Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

International medical graduates must hold a J-1 visa or have resident alien status and they must have a valid ECFMG certificate. In addition, it is preferable that international medical graduates have some amount of clinical medical experience in the United States or Canada.<\/p>\n

All applications received are reviewed with regard to academic performance in college and medical school, performance on USMLE\/COMLEX, interpersonal communication (personal statement, etc.), extracurricular activities, research accomplishments, and letters of recommendation. Competitive candidates will be invited for a formal interview. Applications will be reviewed as they become available in the ERAS system and candidates will be invited in the order they are received and reviewed.<\/p>\n
