[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Our\u00a0Neuromuscular Disorders<\/span>\u00a0program includes a Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Clinic that currently provides care to over 800 patients from throughout South Texas with one of 40 different neuromuscular diseases. This clinic has also been designated as one of 38 MDA\/ALS Research Centers across the country. The neuromuscular program also maintains the South Texas Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Clinic which is one of 34 clinics in the nation accredited by the National ALS Association.<\/p>\n

This clinic is a multidisciplinary center which provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, speech pathology, dietary, social services, and psychological services in addition to neurological consultation. Electrodiagnostic services including nerve conduction studies, electromyography, repetitive nerve stimulation, and single fiber EMG are offered daily. The program conducts clinical research trials in a variety of neuromuscular diseases including ALS, myasthenia gravis, myotonic dystrophy, dermatomyositis, and peripheral neuropathy.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0South Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Center<\/span>, a Level IV epilepsy program accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, is the only comprehensive epilepsy center in South Texas and serves a large population of adult and pediatric patients with seizures. Our facilities include outpatient clinics and an inpatient video monitoring unit for seizure characterization and evaluation of people with medically refractory seizures. Our epilepsy surgery program is one of the most active in Texas.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disorders<\/span>\u00a0program that is nationally and internationally known for clinical research in stroke prevention and treatment.<\/p>\n

Our\u00a0Neuro-immunology<\/span> program has focused on the neurological and psychiatric complications associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. Important insights have been uncovered as to the predictors and course of neuropsychiatric manifestation of SLE.<\/p>\n

The Department of Neurology at UT Health San Antonio is the major referral center for Neuro-ophthalmological<\/span>\u00a0problems in Central and South Texas.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Research Imaging Center (RIC)<\/span>\u00a0provides state of the art imaging capability. The RIC is composed of six divisions: 1) the Positron Emission Tomography Division; 2) the Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy Division; 3) the Electrophysiological Imaging Division; 4) the Biomedical Image Analysis Division; 5) the Administrative Division; and (6) the Technical Resources Division. This Center is a leader in the international cooperative Brain Mapping project.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text el_class=”panel single-border single-border-top”]<\/p>\n
