Supporting Facilities

Our clinical facilities include the primary facility of University Hospital, which is physically connected to the UT Health San Antonio. The Health Sciences center is a major tertiary care center and receives referrals from all parts of Texas. Our program also utilizes the Mays Cancer Center (UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center) for clinical care and research.

Library

The main medical library at the Health Sciences Center is the Dolph Briscoe Jr. Library. The 93,000 square foot multi-level library boasts a collection of nearly 200,000 book and journal volumes, more than 3,000 media programs and computer software and 2,600 periodical subscriptions. The Library serves not only as the primary resource and repository of information for the learning, research, and health care functions of the Center, but also as a laboratory where students may acquire skills of information processing.

The collection covers the broad range of all health-related science–dentistry, medicine, nursing, and basic sciences. Numerous electronic databases including Pubmed, Ovid, Scopus, CINAHL, RefWorks, UpToDate, and others are available to assist students and researchers. The Learning Resource Center provides study carrels for non-print media review and the screening of tapes from UT Health San Antonio’s Demand Access Television System, which maintains an up-to-date collection of instructional programs.
