[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4186″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]The Joe and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine trains 240 medical students annually, so students are a big part of our culture here! Our \u201cResidents as Teachers\u201d program is directed by a resident team with a faculty mentor, and offers periodic development sessions annually focused on topics such as teaching in the operating room, giving feedback, and teaching in the ambulatory setting.<\/p>\n

Residents also lead an 8 week \u201cIntern School\u201d for our new incoming interns, and develop several annual \u201cResident Led Learning\u201d sessions alongside our faculty during the didactic sessions. All residents are required to provide a grand rounds presentation in the chief resident year.<\/p>\n

A senior and junior level resident are awarded for their teaching efforts based on medical student input! Our residents are regular recipients of the campus-wide Gold Humanism Teaching Awards<\/a> at our institution!<\/p>\n

Residents can also get more involved with teaching dependent on their own career ambitions. Our residents have held IUD insertion training workshops, taught MS2 students pelvic exam skills, served on panels for medical students considering OBGYN, and serve as the Resident Liaison for the OBGYN Interest Group. We also have a resident member on our Senior Medical Student Awards Committee. Some of our residents even serve as faculty for the ACOG district and national medical student courses each year. Senior level residents interested in a future career in academics and teaching can also apply and are supported to participate in the “Clinician Educator Track<\/a>” through our GME office.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″]
