The senior residents are encouraged to attend one professional meeting.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Notice: The Department supports resident research and education projects, including travel to present their work at scientific meetings. Requests for such funds will be judged on an individual basis.<\/p>\n<h2>Policies<\/h2>\n<p>To ensure that you receive full information about the policies that pertain to our residency training programs, we are sharing those policies with you. While the residency program director and coordinator will be your primary contact persons during the application process, the GME Office can be another source of assistance to you. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uthscsa.edu\/academics\/medicine\/education\/gme\">GME website<\/a> contains all currently approved policies as well as some helpful educational links and resources. A <a href=\"http:\/\/uthscsa.edu\/gme\/documents\/Contracts\/19-20\/2019-2020%20GME%20Funded%20Contract%20Renewing%20051019.doc\">sample contract<\/a> is also available for review there.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"loose-list bullet-list indent-list\">\n<li><strong>Vacations for House Officers (University Health System Policy)<\/strong><br \/>\nFifteen (15) vacation days with pay are granted each contract year and must be approved by the Program Director.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sick Leave for House Officers (University Health System Policy)<\/strong><br \/>\nTen (10) sick days with pay granted each contract year.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Family Medical Leave At (FMLA)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The requirements of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) must be satisfied by each resident prior to the Program Director certifying the resident to take Part 1 of the ABOG exam (i.e. absent no more than twelve weeks\/year in any year of Residency with a total not to exceed 24 weeks for the entire residency).
