Mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In alignment with the Long School of Medicine, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology\u2019s Division of Education is committed to providing the highest quality medical education and training for students, residents, faculty, alumni and our community partners in the area of Women\u2019s Health.<\/p>\n

Our goals are to promote, achieve and sustain excellence in areas of both teaching and education. We strive to provide a stimulating and supportive learning environment which facilitates each learner\u2019s development and mastery of basic skills, critical thinking, and problem solving while also encouraging creativity and innovation. Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology<\/a><\/h3>\n

Our ACGME-approved fellowship program in gynecologic oncology is a three-year fellowship. One three-year fellow will be accepted into the program each year.<\/p><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″]\n

Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine<\/a><\/h3>\n

Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) fellowship is a three-year program designed to qualify the candidate for advanced certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), Inc.<\/p><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″]\n

Our program in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility is a three-year program designed to qualify the candidate for advanced certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Inc.<\/p><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

  1. Promote, achieve and sustain excellence in\u00a0 teaching and education<\/li>\n
  2. Create and foster an environment that values education and educational scholarship<\/li>\n
  3. Build academic recognition and leadership in areas of educational expertise, innovations, delivery, outcomes and research<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Strategies<\/strong><\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. Provide guidance to faculty and programs in the design, implementation\u00a0 and\u00a0 continuous quality review of curricula.<\/li>\n
    2. Provide faculty development for teaching best practices for content delivery (use of instructional technology, active learning, learner centered teaching)<\/li>\n
    3. Support and mentor educators who desire to pursue a career commitment to education as a scholarship strength, including advancement within the promotion and tenure system(s).<\/li>\n
    4. Support faculty in educational research projects and scholarship<\/li>\n
    5. Develop CME programs for community physicians in San Antonio and referral areas.<\/li>\n
    6. Provide women\u2019s healthcare education to the patients in our community.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
