UT San Antonio

With an increasingly competitive funding environment and the establishment of additional research institutions in the South Texas region, the Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio recognized the needs to establish a vision, mission, and priorities for research. Input from faculty, staff, and other research partners guided the School of Medicine to develop a strategic plan for research that defines our long and short term goals and objectives for the next five years.

The strategic plan will be used to build up research areas in which the SOM is already an established leader, while also helping identify new research areas and opportunities for SOM to advance as a leader in health care research. Using the tools developed in the strategic planning process will establish within the SOM Research Dean’s Office a scientific and organizational structure that supports capitalizing on research opportunities.
