Overview

Our division at the University of Texas at San Antonio, UT San Antonio, has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, from the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery to Diabetes Care to the Archives of Internal Medicine.

Diabetes is a mainstay of research in the department, the scope has expanded to include multiple areas of interest to those who care for the lower extremity

The division sponsors academic projects, retrospective and prospective, that examine the challenges of the patient with foot and ankle pathology and the unique problems of the patient with diabetic foot complications.

Goals:

  • Develop alternative and effective modalities for treatment of foot and ankle pathology
  • Improve the understanding of research methodology among students, residents, fellows and faculty
  • Enhance clinical faculty and resident involvement
  • Enhance research funding
