Personal Statement:
Dr. Martin is an orthopaedic surgeon, who is fellowship trained in orthopaedic traumatology. This subspecialty is dedicated to caring for patients with acute orthopaedic fractures and injuries as well as those who have post-traumatic deformities and complications.
With the goal of restoring patients’ function and quality of life, Dr. Martin reviews various treatment options and develops personalized plans of care with each patient.
Dr. Martin has deep roots in Texas where he was born and raised. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center after which he trained as an orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of Texas Health San Antonio. He then completed his orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California under the instruction of renowned leaders in the field. Dr. Martin was awarded the prestigious AO Trauma North America John Border Memorial Fellowship through which he received additional training at the University of Oxford in England.
Dr. Martin’s clinical interests include periarticular fractures, adult hip reconstruction, pelvis and acetabular surgery, and fracture nonunions and malunions. He also has an interest in clinical research having co-authored multiple orthopaedic trauma articles in leading peer-reviewed journals and numerous book chapters.
Prior to embarking upon his medical education, Dr. Martin completed his bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University. He then was awarded a Princeton in Africa fellowship, affiliated with Princeton University, through which he worked with the International Rescue Committee in South Sudan for a year. Dr. Martin completed graduate school in England where he received a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford.
Dr. Martin is an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), AO Trauma North America, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures with his wife, spending time with his children, and hiking.
