Internship Curriculum<\/h2>\n

The first year of orthopedic residency at the University of Texas at San Antonio, UT San Antonio, will expose interns to a variety of orthopedic and general rotations, including rotations on Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Radiology, PM&R, and the Veterans\u2019 Affairs hospital. Interns will work in an environment that emphasizes an appropriate balance between the demands of patient care, the importance of hands-on learning, and the minimization of medical errors, thus providing a strong foundation that will prepare them for the rigors and responsibilities of orthopedic residency.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”far”]<\/p>\n

Resident Curriculum<\/h2>\n

The residency curriculum will cover all areas of clinical orthopaedics and basic science annually, through our weekly didactics sessions, Fracture Rounds, Journal Clubs, and special skills\/cadaver labs. Lecturers will be members of the Orthopaedic Department faculty, School of Medicine faculty, and invited guests from the community. During the PGY-2 through PGY-5 years, residents will perform 2-month long rotations through a range of orthopaedic specialties, including Trauma, Sports, Upper Extremity, Arthroplasty, Hand, Foot & Ankle, and more. Rotations are performed at a variety of hospitals including our main University Health System hospital, VA hospital, and several nearby private hospitals. All rotations are performed within a roughly 15 to 20 minute drive from the main hospital.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″] \n \n <\/i><\/span><\/span>
