Program Overview<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>The UT Health San Antonio Athletic Training Residency in Rehabilitation is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)<\/a>. This 12-month program begins in July and runs through the end of June each year. This athletic training residency program provides athletic trainers with advanced knowledge and manual techniques in sports rehabilitation with a focus on creating community leaders in athletic training. The residency includes a didactic program consisting of lecture and lab where residents will be learning advanced examination, treatment, and manual skills to enhance their practice. The didactic program focuses heavily on manual therapy, Movement System Impairments, and integrating technology into return to play testing and decision making for athletes. Residents will work as full-time athletic trainers assigned to sports within the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) athletics. The residents will receive mentoring at their clinical site by seasoned athletic trainers with specialized training in rehabilitation, as well as from certified sports and\/or orthopedic physical therapy specialists who are fellowship trained in manual therapy. They will also have an opportunity to work with experienced sports medicine orthopedic surgeons, observing them in clinic and surgery.<\/p>\n

The residency is seeking highly motivated athletic trainers who have a desire to work in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary environment. Residents should be self-motivators and able to handle a busy schedule. Residents will be employees of UT Health San Antonio which is a premier academic and research institution. Residents will receive a competitive residency salary and be eligible for full benefits<\/a>.<\/p>\n
