\"PhilipPhilip Chen, MD,FARS<\/strong><\/a>, is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Rhinologic Society. He enjoys all aspects of otolaryngology, but has special interest in disease of the paranasal sinuses.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chen is the senior-most fellowship-trained rhinologist in San Antonio offering care to the civilian community. He completed his residency at the University of Virginia where he trained under esteemed rhinologists Charles Gross, MD, and Spencer Payne, MD  Subsequently, he completed one of the world’s premier advanced endoscopic sinus and anterior skull base surgery fellowships under the direction of Professor Peter-John Wormald.<\/p>\n

Dr. Chen has lectured internationally and authored multiple publications and book chapters.  He serves on multiple local and national committees, mostly pertaining to education of students, residents, and other otolaryngologists.  Dr. Chen serves as a peer-reviewer for over ten scientific journals.  His research interests include surgical simulation, sinus anatomy, and quality improvement.
\nOutside of work, he enjoys exploring the food in San Antonio and Texas Hill Country, including Texas barbecue.  He is also an avid fan of baseball and live music.<\/p>\n

He is honored to be listed on local and national lists of top doctors.<\/p>\n

\"Erin<\/a>Erin Lopez, MD, FARS<\/strong><\/a> is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-HNS at UT San Antonio Long School of Medicine.<\/p>\n

She graduated from medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, and completed her residency in Otolaryngology-HNS at the University of North Carolina \u2013 Chapel Hill. She completed her fellowship in Neurorhinology \u2013 Advanced Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at the University of North Carolina \u2013 Chapel Hill.<\/p>\n

Dr. Lopez has been on faculty since 2023 and has extensive experience in advanced sinus surgery and skull base surgery techniques, including expanded endonasal and open approaches and revision sinus surgery. She treats the full spectrum of sinus disease, including inflammatory conditions (chronic sinusitis with and without nasal polyps), and benign and malignant sinonasal tumors.<\/p>\n

She also works with her neurosurgery partners as a part of the UT San Antonio academic campus skull base surgery team to perform endoscopic and open surgery on pituitary tumors, CSF leaks\/encephaloceles, as well as benign tumors and cancers of the skull base.<\/p>\n
