[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Fluorescence labeled antibodies are used to detect specific antigens in cells or tissue. Samples to be evaluated for immunoglobulin deposition by immunofluorescence are prepared for sectioning in a low temperature cryostat.<\/p>\n

Heart, lung, oral, renal, and skin biopsies are commonly stained with immunofluorescence to demonstrate deposits.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Biopsy Submission for Immunofluorescence\"\"<\/h3>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Place specimen in the vial of Immunofluorescent Michel\u2019s Transport Medium (green lid).<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The patient\u2019s first and last name, a second identifier, site\/laterality, and the collection date must be present on all specimen containers.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The information on the container must match the requisition.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Complete all the information on the Laboratory Request Form.<\/a><\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Send a copy of the patient\u2019s medical history and current relevant lab results. Be sure to include the name and contact information of the referring physician.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
