Laboratory Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory is operated as a reference laboratory by the Department of Pathology at UT San Antonio. The laboratory is involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and also provides support services for faculty and staff of UT Health, as well as services to outside entities on a predominantly fee-for-service basis.<\/span><\/p>\n

The laboratory develops and performs molecular diagnostic tests for nucleic acid targets found in a variety of settings in medicine. The laboratory performs hematopathology, solid tumor and molecular microbiological testing as well as  a selection of genetic and infectious disease tests.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory is fully accredited by and participates in the <\/span>College of American Pathologists (CAP)<\/span> inspection and accreditation programs. <\/span><\/p>\n

Through the deemed status granted to the CAP, the laboratory is also accredited through the<\/span> <\/span>Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA)<\/span> for the performance of high complexity testing.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator border_width=”2″ css=””][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n
