These stains can be ordered independent but if interpretation is needed, please order the appropriate consultation. Stand-alone stain and interpretations are not available unless otherwise indicated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Immunohistochemistry Submission<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Preferred Specimen<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Paraffin Block\n<ul>\n<li>Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue block<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Unstained Slides\n<ul>\n<li>Cut sections at 3-4 microns<\/li>\n<li>Sections must be on coated slides Fisher Brand Super Frost Plus Coated slides<\/li>\n<li>Slides must have the accession number and patient name clearly written<\/li>\n<li>Slides must have the type of fixation written on the slide if other than formalin.<\/li>\n<li>Submit three (3) slides for each test ordered.<\/li>\n<li>Do Not heat dry slides in oven.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Submission Instructions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The following information will be needed for submission of samples.&nbsp; Samples cannot be processed unless this information is provided.\n<ul>\n<li>The patient\u2019s first and last name and a second identifier (accession number) must be present on the paraffin block and\/or unstained slides.<\/li>\n<li>The information on the paraffin block and\/or unstained slides must match the requisition.<\/li>\n<li>Complete all the information on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lsom.uthscsa.edu\/pathology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/94\/2022\/12\/UT_STRL-Histology_Immunohistochemistry-Requestion-Form-11-2022_Fillable-Form-1.pdf\"><strong>Laboratory Request Form<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Please indicate on the laboratory request form the name of the IHC marker(s) requested.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to include the name and contact information of the referring physician.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Unacceptable Conditions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Specimens submitted with nonrepresentative tissue type. Depleted specimens.<\/li>\n<li>Specimens fixed in any fixative other than 10% neutral buffered formalin.<\/li>\n<li>Frozen tissue samples.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Transportation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00b7Protect paraffin block and\/or unstained slides from excessive heat. Transport tissue block or unstained positively charged slides in a styrofoam container with ice packs during the summer months,<\/li>\n<li>Use OVERNIGHT shipping via Fed Ex or same day Courier service.<\/li>\n<li>Laboratory hours are Monday -Friday, 7:30am &#8211; 4:30pm.
