Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Pediatrics Residency Program at UT San Antonio, Long School of Medicine<\/a> and University Hospital<\/a> of San Antonio. We are a medium-sized, ACGME-accredited residency program, practicing pediatric medicine in the 6th largest city in the US and fastest growing city in Texas. Our new Women’s & Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a>, with 308 beds, is the only one of its kind in the region, bringing with it a Level I Trauma and ECMO Center, Level IV NICU, Cardiac Care Unit, Palliative Care Program, and multiple pediatric subspecialties and services.<\/p>\n

Despite the size of our hospital and city, our residency program is known for its family-feel and strong ties to the community. Like San Antonio and its children, our residency program has a rich and longstanding culture of inclusivity, innovation, and diverse backgrounds. As the longest standing pediatric training program in South and Central Texas, we have a legacy of training pediatricians for general and subspecialty practice in our local community and beyond. Each year, around 40-50% of graduating residents pursue subspecialty fellowship training, all of whom match into top fellowship programs here and throughout the US.<\/p>\n

We pride ourselves on our dynamic curriculum, that includes Quality Improvement, Health Equity, Longitudinal Advocacy, and our Nurse-Intern Buddy Program. Residents are able to find balance in our X+Y scheduling, resident-driven Wellness Program, and regular Townhalls with the Program Director, Chief Resident and Chair. Our mission to change lives through quality healthcare and education begins with and extends to our amazing residents.<\/p>\n
