[vc_row gap=”35″][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_single_image image=”10800″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]The Department of Pediatrics has substantial on-going research activities in General and Community Pediatrics, Neonatology, Critical Care, and all of the subspecialties. A variety of faculty research role models are available for the House Staff within the Department of Pediatrics and in other Health Science Center Departments. We actively encourage and support residents to participate in the production of scholarly work that enhances their professional development.<\/p>\n

All residents are supported in their participation in team-based Quality Improvement (QI) projects every year through their QI curriculum. Projects are expected to be submitted to at least one venue each year.<\/p>\n

All residents have the opportunity to participate in basic and clinical research during their three years of training. Residents following an Individualized Resident Track for future subspecialty training are required to complete scholarly projects in addition to QI during their three years in the program. Selected QI teams present their work annually at a Department wide Grand Rounds. A listing of all faculty and their research interests are provided to residents along with a longitudinal curriculum on the research process. On average in any given year nearly 50% of our residents have produced a scholarly project which has been published, presented in a poster format, or presented at a national conference including the following:<\/p>\n
