\n“Damage Control Resuscitation in Children”<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>
\nTo increase awareness and education for pediatric providers<\/p>\n

Dr. Borgman<\/strong> is currently the Chief of Inpatient Pediatrics at BAMC and a Professor of Pediatrics at Uniformed Services University, as well as a Visiting Scholar at the London School of Medicine.\u00a0 He is a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine where he is past Chair of the Uniformed Services Section, representing all DOD critical care providers to their national society.\u00a0 The American Association for the Surgery in Trauma (AAST) has named him as a Contributing Scientist.<\/p>\n

His scholarly activities include over 60 peer-reviewed publications, editor of one textbook,\u00a0Fundamentals of Critical Care Support: Resource Limited, 8 book chapters, and over 30 invited podium presentations.\u00a0 He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of trauma and critical care medicine, having authored the most cited article on combat casualty resuscitation, which helped establish the concept of \u201c1:1\u201d transfusion of red cells and plasma in trauma. In addition, he has published a number of other ground-breaking papers in pediatric trauma management which have helped redefine the care of children injured during the course of combat operations as well as in peacetime. He is the former national chair of the Pediatric Trauma Society Research Committee.\u00a0 Dr. Borgman serves as an advisor to the Joint Trauma System and contributes to policymaking at the highest levels of the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n

COL Borgman deployed to a combat support hospital in Iraq in 2011 as Chief of Inpatient Medicine and ICU Director and served on a humanitarian mission to Honduras in 2005 as well as several trips to Uganda teaching critical care skills to the Ugandan Defense Force in 2019-2020.\u00a0 His awards and decorations include the Expert Field Medical Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Gold-Headed Cane for the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium.<\/p>\n
