Overview:<\/strong>
\nInfant body composition as primary outcome of clinical studies<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>
\nTo increase awareness and education for pediatric providers<\/p>\n

Dr. Salas<\/strong> is a board-certified, attending neonatologist at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He has an M.D. degree from Universidad Mayor de San Andres and an M.S.P.H. degree from UAB. He is an\u00a0early-stage investigator with expertise in randomized trials of enteral nutrition in preterm infants. His list of peer-reviewed publications includes more than 30 original research manuscripts. Dr. Salas is a member of prestigious societies, including the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR), the Perinatal Research Society (PRS), and the American Society for Nutrition (ASN). He has been recognized with several regional and national awards for his dedication to academic research, most notably the 2018 ASN Samuel J. Fomon Young Physician Award. He currently receives grant support from NICHD to study the effects of human milk diets on body composition outcomes of extremely preterm infants.<\/p>\n
