\nInnovation in Quality Improvement for CLABSI
\nprevention<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong>
\nTo increase awareness and education for pediatric providers<\/p>\n

Dr. Lakshmi Srinivasan<\/strong> is a neonatologist at the Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia. She
\ncompleted medical training at Madras Medical College in India. She pursued her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship at
\nChildren’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She also obtained a Master of Science in Translational
\nResearch from the University of Pennsylvania, with an emphasis on design and conduct of
\npatient oriented research studies.<\/p>\n

Her prior patient-oriented research has involved technologies for diagnosis of neonatal
\ninfections, measurement of cytokines and Damage Associated Molecular Patterns, and gene
\nexpression profiling and genome wide associations to better understand genetic risk and
\nexpression in neonatal disease states. She has performed context-specific analyses of clinical
\nrisk factors for central line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) in high risk units, and is
\ncurrently defining risk adjustment strategies for pediatric CLABSI. In collaboration with
\ninvestigators in infectious diseases and neonatology, she is leading projects examining
\nStaphylococcus aureus colonization and infections in the NICU using whole genome sequencing
\nand geospatial analysis, to drive infection prevention strategies in the NICU. She also co-leads a
\nproject on shotgun sequencing of central venous catheter derived blood samples for early
\ndetection of CLABSI.
\n
\nDr. Srinivasan<\/strong> leads the CHOP hospital-wide CLABSI prevention team, sepsis QI and
\nantimicrobial stewardship efforts within CHOP\u2019s NIICU, and co-leads the CHOP Pediatric Sepsis
\nProgram research node. She also co-leads subgroups in national consortia – the Children\u2019s
\nHospital Neonatal Consortium (CHNC) Infectious Diseases Focus group, and the Solutions for
\nPatient Safety (SPS) Disparities Improvement Workgroup. Her overarching goal is to drive
\ninnovative strategies to enhance the prediction and prevention of infections in complex patient
\npopulations, such as in quaternary Children\u2019s Hospital NICUs.<\/p>\n
